Cosmetic Dentistry
We
are inundated everyday with Hollywood's images
of the perfect smile. There is a reason that
Hollywood's elite are sporting their dazzling,
pearly whites. Studies show that a radiant,
confident smile empowers us socially and in
business relationships. It is one our most
important physical attributes. So why are
so few of us are satisfied with our smile?
Not long ago radiant smiles were either nature's
gift or affordable to only a select few. Those
days are gone. With advances in dentistry
anyone can have a beautiful smile with minimal
investment. Have a look at some of our smile
makeovers. For most of us, simple inexpensive
changes will have a dramatic effect. Usually
the principle complaint of individuals is
the colour of their teeth. Discolouration
can result from wine, coffee, food, nicotine,
age, genetic predisposition, exposure to high
levels of fluoride at an early age and other
factors. |
Whitening
Whitening is a quick, easy, painless and inexpensive
solution that will transform your smile. Healthy
teeth can often be whitened through home or
in-office treatments but should be supervised
by your dentist. In severe cases other options
may be considered such as bonding, veneers
and crowns. |
Bonding
In Bonding, tooth-coloured resin is applied
on the affected teeth. This process successfully
solves more than colour issues. Bonding can
correct for worn, cracked, chipped or widely
spaced teeth as well. |
Veneers
Veneers offer another solution. Veneers are
like a "jacket" for your teeth.
A thin, tooth-coloured, porcelain jacket is
sculpted for the front of each affected tooth.
This allows your dentist to change the colour
and the shape of each tooth if required. |
Crowns
In cases where the tooth is weak, Crowns are
often the desired solution. Crowns cover all
sides of the tooth and provide structure.
Today's crowns are tooth coloured and can
not be distinguished from natural teeth. They
can also correct for tooth misalignment. See
more photos of crown
and bridge work. |
Inlays
For many of us a hearty, head tilting laugh
exposes a mouth full of metal fillings.
We are conscious of previous dental work
and limit or cover our smiles. Modern dental
techniques now allow you to change all that
through the use of Inlays. Inlays are toothcoloured
fillings which can be matched to your specific
tooth colour. Often, existing metal fillings
can be easily replaced with these new ceramic
versions at little expense. The choice is
yours.
